Fondue is a fun way to eat dessert that is very easy and can be created to feed a crowd or a romantic ending to an intimate date night dinner. If you want to create a smaller version, cut the ingredient amounts in half or for a larger group double them. Not only is it easy and fun, but versatile. Add pound cake, marshmallows, graham crackers or any of your favorite fruits. Also different chocolates can be used, such as, dark, white or Mexican chocolate. For a recipe that uses Mexican chocolate see Mexican Chocolate Fondue.
1 – 11.5 oz. bag of Ghiradelli brand chocolate chips or your favorite chocolate, but do try to get good quality chocolate
1 cup of cream
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 bananas sliced into chunks
1- 16 oz. container of strawberries cleaned (preferably organic)
1 fresh pineapple peeled and cut into chunks or 1 can of chunk pineapple drained
In a medium sauce pan combine chocolate and cream and melt over low heat. Whisking constantly to prevent burning. Once chocolate has melted, add vanilla and whisk. Pour into a regular bowl or a fondue bowl. Light the candle beneath the fondue bowl, once plated and is in the place it will be served. Plate with fruit or any other items you would like with the chocolate. Serve with fondue forks or wooden skewers, dip and enjoy!
