Classic Meat Loaf

Meat loaf is a great comfort food and leftovers can be used to make a great sandwich!

Ingredients

1 pound of ground beef
6 soda crackers crumbled
1/2 of a can of 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
2 tablespoons of dried minced onion flakes
1/2 cup of BBQ sauce or Ketchup to drizzle on top – your choice

Technique

In a large bowl add all ingredients except for BBQ sauce or Ketchup. Using your hands mix ingredient very well and mold into a loaf that will resemble a loaf of bread and place on a baking sheet lined with foil or coated with non-stick cooking spray. Drizzle BBQ sauce or Ketchup over the top and bake uncovered at 375 degrees for about 30 – 45 minutes. Remove meatloaf from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Remove from pan and cut into one inch slices.

Suggested Side Dish

Try Iva’s New Potatoes and Baked Glazed Carrots.

Suggested Beverage

Try a Chardonnay, because the cinnamon adds a hint of sweetness to the meatloaf and the chosen side dishes will pair nicely with a Chardonnay.  Try Goats do Roam White Wine (South Africa), Greg Norman Chardonnay (Eden Valley, Australian Estates), Solaire Chardonnay by Robert Mondavi (Santa Lucia Highlands), Saint Arnold Brown Ale (Houston, TX), Samuel Adams® Old Fezziwig Ale (Boston MA) or Bass Pale Ale (England).
