Ya’ll gatta love the names and flavors of these beers even if you don’t mow the lawn or weedwack! I have had many beers (actually I have tasted all of them) from Saint Arnold® Brewery here in Houston, but the Fancy Lawnmower is by far my favorite so when I spied the Weedwacker they recently came out with I just had to try it! Not only is the name fabulous, but the beer is as well! Regardless if lawn mowing or weedwacking is fancy or not the beers sure are “fancy” fabulous!
A little bit of information about the beers from the Saint Arnold® website:
Saint Arnold® Fancy Lawn Mower
“A true German-style Kölsch. Originally brewed in Cologne, this beer is crisp yet has a sweet malty body that is balanced by a complex, citrus hop character. Multiple additions of German Hallertauer hops are used to achieve this delicate flavor. We use a special Kölsch yeast, an ale yeast that ferments at lager temperatures, to yield the slightly fruity, clean flavor of this beer.”
Saint Arnold® Weedwacker
“Weedwacker is essentially a Bavarian hefeweizen. Except it isn’t. Weedwacker is exactly the same beer as Fancy Lawnmower Beer but we ferment it with Bavarian hefeweizen yeast instead of kölsch yeast. It is light and refreshing but has a spicy clove note and some banana esters that come from the different yeast. While it is a close relation to Lawnmower, it tastes completely different. Also, Weedwacker is our only unfiltered year-round beer. Expect to see some yeast at the bottom of the bottle.”
A little bit of information about St. Arnold® Brewing Company:
Saint Arnold® Brewing Company is Texas’ oldest craft brewery that opened in 1995. They brew 6 year round beers and 6 seasonal beers and have tours and tastings at their brewery. Not only that you can rent the brewery for special events, which is where I had my husband’s 40th birthday party. For more information on the brewery and their beers see their website at Saint Arnold Brewery.
