La Joya Margarita

Because of the color of the margarita and the liquor used, I feel this is a deserving name. “La Joya” in Spanish means “the jewel”. Once you see the bottle for the Chambord you will think of jewels fitting for royalty. Treat yourself to this regal beverage and kick back and sip in the luxury. As you can see it is in between a frozen margarita and one on the rock. It actually has a “slushy” texture. However, you can shake up the ingredients and pour over ice for a margarita on the rocks or add more ice and have a frozen version. As with all of our margaritas, you are making them from scratch so choose a good quality tequila. I highly recommend one that contains 100% agave. See my recipe Simple Syrup if you would like to make your own simple syrup.

Ingredients

1/4 cup of Chambord (raspberry) liquor
1/4 triple sec
1/4 cup of Simple Syrup
1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 cup of Grand Marnier
1/2 cup of 100% agave tequila
2 cups of ice
Garnish
Kosher salt
Thinly sliced lime

Technique

Place all ingredients (except garnish) into blender and blend until smooth. Take kosher salt and place onto a flat small dish. Place kosher salt onto a small flat dish. Smear squeezed lime around the rim of the margarita glass in order for the salt to stick to it. Salt the rim of the glass by dipping the rim into the salt and moving in a circular fashion until evenly coated. Pour margarita into glass and garnish with a sliced lime.
